This 1700km long river originates north, in Angola, and seeps away in a huge inland delta in the Kalahari Desert. That is why you can find nearly all vegetation zones from water scenery with numerous species of birds, hippos and crocodiles, from the boarder of Caprivi (Namibia) up to the sandy regions of the Kalahari an area of 6086 sq. miles.

There is a good chance that you will see four of the "big five" (elephants, lions, leopards and buffalos), with a bit of luck perhaps some rhinos in the surroundings of the Mombo camp in the central alluvium of the Okavango delta.

The camping safari is the most nature-orientated way to visit this country. You can choose the route and the duration (2 days minimum) yourself or confide in the recommendations of one of the best safari guides of Botswana: Buxton Masasa.

Naturally you can also choose other destinations inside Botswana, or optionally combine them with your safari.
